The library card is the most important school supply of all. Your library plays an important role in the education and development of your children and bridges the learning gap by offering a wide range of digital and print resources. Huntington Public Library offers free access to technology and innovative educational programming while continuing to expand our services in ways that meet the needs of our community. Please stop by our Customer Service Desk for your free library card. The coolest card you can own! Come Meet, Greet and Hug Snoopy on Friday, September 25 between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm in the Center Court of Walt Whitman Shops.
Happy "Nascent Autumn" and best of luck to all our students who will soon be returning to school this fall! This summer was very busy at the library with all of our programs and our summer reading clubs. I hope you were able to join in some of the fun with us.
With September being National Library Card Sign-up Month, I would like to personally encourage anyone without a library card to get one. There is a national initiative going on to strengthen learning opportunities for all students. This plan, dubbed the ConnectED Library Challenge, is for schools and libraries to work together to ensure that every student has a library card. The essence of this initiative is to put a library card in every student’s backpack. We are planning to work with the schools on this initiative to help all of our students get library cards.
As you can see, we recently unveiled our new web site, and I welcome your comments and suggestions as we continually seek to improve our services. We are also reaching out to our patrons through our Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram pages, so I hope you will “like” us or “follow” us to be kept up to date on what is happening in the library.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time: 631-427-5165, ext. 206, or by email at .
